Juried Member of Best of Missouri Hands

My art has been judged and professionally critiqued through a process called "juring".  A panel of judges examined my artwork for originality, execution and professionalism.  In January, 2016, I was awarded the status of JURIED ARTIST by the BEST of MISSOURI HANDS organization.

This prestigious status means that I have met the level of excellence expected from this highly respected art organization.

Nature is the inspiration for my art.  Living on our alpaca farm gives me lots of ideas for my art from our alpacas and horses to our hilltop vistas and the wild  flora and faunna.  I've been creating one of a kind pieces for myself, friends, family and could occassionally be coaxed into selling some of my one-of-a-kind items.  Most of my art pieces were designed to teach classes in fiber art at workshops on my farm, at fiber festivals and at other farms around the country.

I also created some fiber art pieces for the Alpaca Owners Association's (and affiliate)  Fiber Art Competitions.  Those blue ribbon (100/100 point) pieces hang in a place of honor in my studio.

I am also an author.

The Fiber Factor - A Simplified Guide to Alpaca Fiber is a how-to guide to working with and showing alpaca fiber.  It has gained international attention as an excellent resource book.

The Fashionable Mrs. Blue has a Plan and a Clue is a children's book about raising alpacas and using their fiber to create fashionable items.  Mrs. Blue loves all types of fiber art which she creates in her fiber studio and sells her products in her farm store.

After writing The Fashionable Mrs. Blue has a Plan and a Clue, I wanted to introduce fiber art to children (and adults).  Many people have encouraged me to incorporate my writing and instructional skills with my art to create fiber art kits.  I opened my fiber art design studio, Fun Fibers, to introduce you to the traditional and modern techniques of working with animal fibers.

As the chair of the Alpaca Owners Association's Fiber and Fiber Products Committee, I talk to a lot of people from around the country about fiber.  I've given seminars at national conferences on what to do with alpaca fiber and how to do it best. They are excited about this new endeavor - I hope you are too.

Happy Crafting!
